So just thought I'd buy a cheap home phone. But please, whether it's cheap or not I kind of expect a phone to work well. The sound quality on this fades in and out. One second it sounds like you're talking to someone in the middle of a hurricane and the next second it's OK. But you can't count on it being OK, so it really won't do at all. You kind of need a phone you can depend on whether it's an inexpensive one or not. I'm shocked that AT&T would even produce such a poor quality phone. Spend a little bit more for something that actually functions correctly.UPDATE: I found a spare "phone filter" that came with my internet line and plugged it into the wall jack in the kitchen and plugged the phone line into that and voila - it actually works just great. Thanks for your review. 2 points of clarification. Your phone is a VTech, not AT&T. Also, the user's manual clearly recommends the use of a DSL line filter if you suscribe to DSL internet service. These filters are provided by your internet service company. It is hooked up to a digital connection. It is cute, lightweight, fits easily on my desk, and I have had no trouble with it at all. What I find I need is another phone with it as I am a senior and need a bedside phone as well. The voice quality is average to better than average. and after reading the manual a few times, it is easy to use. I purchased this one for a low price at the local warehouse club and I am very disappointed with it. First and foremost, the buttons are placed in such a way that every time I try to rest the phone on my shoulder I either hang up on the person I am talking to, or I kill them with the beeps of hitting redial with my cheek. It is impossible to talk on this phone without holding it in your hand a safe distance from your cheek. I also think the read out is poorly lit and is quite small which makes reading caller ID difficult. I suggest spending a few extra dollars and getting a much better quality phone. |
